RE: RESOLUTION APPROVING THE INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS ON
LAGUNA AVENUE AT ALIDA STREET AND STERLING DRIVE AT
COLUMBIAN DRIVE



SUMMARY

A resolution has been prepared approving the installation of stop signs on Laguna Avenue at
Alida Street, resulting in partial stop, and on Sterling Drive at Columbian Drive, resulting in
partial stop. The stop signs were requested by concerned citizens. Section 10. 12.1 1 0 of the
Oakland Municipal Code allows, by resolution, the installation of stop signs based on
engineering practice.

The proposed stop signs are consistent with the following City Council budget priority:

Clean and Livable Communities: To create clean and livable neighborhoods by combating
blight, litter and illegal dumping through strategies that build pride in our city. To support the
development of open space and pedestrian-friendly city.


FISCAL IMPACTS

Stoy Sim

The cost to install the stop signs and related pavement markings on Laguna Avenue and Sterling
Drive is estimated to be approximately $1,400.00. Funds are available in the Public Works
Agency's operating budget.

Funding ter these improvements is available in the State Gas Tax Fund (2230); Transportation
Services/Traffic Maintenance Organization (30247); and Miscellaneous Building Supplies
Account (52519).
