RESOLUTION HONORING THE CONSORTIUM OF DOCTORS, LTD AND THE
THIRTEENTH ANNUAL BOUQUET OF DOCTORS HONOREES
WHEREAS, On Saturday, July 26, 2003 the Consortium of Doctors, LTD is holding the thirteenth
annual Bouquet of Doctors banquet at the Renaissance Pare Hotel in San Francisco.
WHEREAS, the primary focus of the Consortium is the plight of African American youth and
young adults who have qualified for the job market are yet are still unemployed or underemployed
WHEREAS, this organization was founded in 1991 by Dr. Abigail Jordan in Savannah, GA. The
Consortium of Doctors is comprised of African American women who have completed doctoral
degrees and have made contributions "beyond the realm of the ordinary to enhance the lives of
humankind".
WHEREAS, The Consortium's annual gathering inducts new members to acknowledge, appreciate,
and share testimonies, presentations, and on-going successes of new inductees and consortium
members across the United States.
WHEREAS, the Thirteenth Annual Bouquet of Doctors Banquet will honor a stellar list of Affican
American community leaders, including: Dr. Doris Ward, Dr. Brenda Wade, Dr. Lenora Madison
Poe, Dr. Sodonia Wilson, Judge Beverly M. Phillips, Dr. Ruth M. McClanahan. Dr. Joyce Elaine
King, Dr. Lillie P. Howard, Dr. Marian W. Smith, Dr. Rhonda C. Porter, Dr. Mildred Kaye West, Dr.
Marva T. Dixon, Dr. Fatima Ali, Dr. Phyllis E. Simpson, Dr. Elizabeth K. Davenport, Dr. Bettie
Applewhite, Dr. Carol Denise Rosborrough, Dr. Linda Rene Rosborrough, Dr. Esther Chapman
Pollard, and Dr. Gloria Albright, and
WHEREAS, Oakland's own Dr. C. Diane Howell, Dr. Cecelia Arrington, Dr. Evelyn Wesley, Dr.
Frances L. White, Attomey Angela Glover Blackwell, Judge Brenda Harbin-Forte, Dr. Ramona
Tascoe, Dr. Kathryne Taylor-Favors. Attorney Faydine Colter, Attorney Jacqueline Colter- Peebles.
Dr. LaDawn Law. and Dr. Carole Ward Allen are also to be honored at this event.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council and the Office of Council Member
Desley Brooks, Council District 6 do hereby wish to acknowledge and commend the Consortium of
Doctors, LTD for their achievements and congratulate the honorees at the thirteenth annual Bouquet
of Doctors.
