Recommendation: Action On A Report and Recommendations On Design Specifications And |

A motion was made by Member Nadel, seconded by Member Quan, that |

this matter be *Approve the Recommendation of Staff, and Forward to the |
|
Concurrent Meeting of the Oakland Redevelopment Agency / City Council, |
|
due back on January 17, 2006 As A Non-consent Item. The motion carried |
|

The committee moved seconded and carried a motion to approve staff |
|
recommendations with the following amendments: |
|
- staff is to visit the locations of concern to confirm that each site is in |
|
compliance with the City's regulations; those that are not, enforce the policy |
|
and at locations that can not be regulated look into implementing voluntary |
|
standards |
|

Recommendation: Action On A Report And Recommendations Regarding The Operations Of |

A motion was made by Member Quan, seconded by Member Nadel, that |

this matter be Continued to the *Public Safety Committee. The motion |
|
carried by the following vote: |

The Committee Continued the discussion of this item and directed staff to return |
|
in three to six months with a Supplemental Report including the following |
|
information: |
|
1) animal control information from comparable cities as well as facts from the |
|
City of Detroit 2) alternative suggestions for handling deceased animal pick-up |
|
3) dispatch details including partnering vs. solo operations plus cost for phone |
|
system, 4) cost analysis on operating independently vs. Oakland Police |
|
Department including budget data and 5) department organizational chart and |
|
staffing details |
|
