Fuente, that this matter be *Received and Filed. The motion carried by the |

The committee requested that staff report to Closed Session on the following: 1) |
|
How long it takes for a person that has checked the felony box on an |
|
application to be processed for a position in the city; and 2) The MOU with the |
|
fire department regarding the hiring process for engineers (outside vs. |
|
promotional). The Committee requested that the following be included in the |
|
next quarterly vacancy report: 1) Statistics for the ethnic breakdown of oral |
|
panels used to interview job candidates; and 2) The number of Oakland |
|
residents that apply for positions with the city, and 3) The actual percentage |
|
hired and the bi-lingual and ethnic breakdown. The Committee requested that |
|
the first quarter report include the actual monetary value of extended |
|
vacancies. The Committee directed the City Administrator to develop a plan for |
|
monitoring departments timeliness in sending requests to fill vacancies to |
|
personnel that plan would also allow Council to adjust the department's budget |
|
if vacancies are not filled in a timely manner. |
