SUMMARY

A resolution has been prepared authorizing the City Manager or his designee to accept and
appropriate grant funds in the amount of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) from the Oakland
Unified School District for use by the Police Department and enter into a MOU with OUSD to
sustain the Truancy Reduction and Intervention Program (TRIP) at Fremont High School for the
one year period beginning October 1, 2003.

FISCAL IMPACT

The proposed resolution authorizes the City Manager to accept and appropriate $50,000 in State
of California Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention grant funds for perimeter surveillance
and neighborhood truancy sweeps to address high truancy levels among Fremont High students.
The funds were awarded to the Oakland Unified School District and will be transferred to the
OPD in accordance with the attached MOU. The California Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
